One More Thing
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
I was reading my Bible this morning and as I thought about what I was reading, I was reminded of my May Running Thoughts titled ‘Obedience is an Invitation’
I felt I left that just a bit incomplete.
As I stated, it is forever true that obedience, the exercise of His promises, the doing of His Word are indeed keys that unlock untold blessings that we will discover. “Immeasurably more than all we can ask for or imagine” are along the path of obedience. So, obedience is an invitation to blessedness. He knows the way to blessedness within this fallen world.
My ‘One More Thing’ is that obedience is not only an invitation but it is also evidence. Being obedient to Jesus, as Lord, is not what earns salvation, but rather is evidence and assurance that we truly are saved
Obedience is what love looks like in motion. When we truly know and love Him we will increasingly desire to follow Him.
For we who believe, Jesus is both Saviour and Lord.
It is both, not either. If not both, then neither.
