“Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!””Mark 9:24

Being a big Yankee fan, I can remember, in 2003,  how nervous I was watching the Yankees, Red Sox game.  This was the game to determine who would advance to the World Series. In the 11th inning, Aaron Boone hit a grand slam homerun and the Yankees won!

That night and for days later, people exclaimed that this was “Unbelievable!, Unbelievable!”

I can also remember also leaving a Phish, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeren concert and people describing the show as “Unbelievable!, Unbelievable!”

“Unbelievable” was the word everyone used to describe something that actually happened, something they had just witnessed.

Now, I know they really didn’t mean that they could not believe what they had just experienced.  They were really saying “Wow!”  “Wow!”

It was their personal experience that made that which they witnessed, believable.

Unfortunately, frustratingly, I fear that people, even those of us who nod our heads in agreement with the claims and promises of God find these things to be true, but unbelievable!  And we live our lives as if they are not believable, not true.   We live our lives unbelieving that which we know to be true. Somehow, too good to be true!

It is only when we personally exercise God’s promises that we  discover that they are always true.  It makes that which is ‘too good to be true’ to become undeniably actual.   We have to Go to Know
