Walking with God
Two worlds, one invitation, and a torn veil that changes everything
By experience—not theory or secondhand stories—I know that God is, and that He is knowable.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how far God has gone to remove the obstacle that separated us from Him—sin, the dividing line since the moment Adam and Eve chose distance over closeness. Back then, they walked and talked freely with Him. But after the Fall, a veil came down between us and God—a barrier we couldn’t tear down on our own.
But God, in His love, tore it for us.
He sent Jesus not just to forgive, but to reopen the door, to rip the veil in two and restore the kind of intimacy we were made for. And yet somehow, we still make it feel so difficult.
The other day while I was out on a run, I found myself reflecting on this. It struck me how often we live as if there’s now a toll booth on the bridge He already built for us—as if there are lanes of traffic, forms to fill out, hurdles to cross just to talk to Him. But that’s not the truth.
There is no toll. No red tape. No waiting room.
He’s not hiding.
He’s not waiting for us to earn points to gain access.
He already tore the veil. He already came close.
Right here. Right now. Always—we are in His presence. And He’s not only present—He’s delighted to be with us. He’s available. He’s listening. He wants to walk with us again, like He did in the Garden.
Maybe all it takes is a simple recognition:
“The veil has been torn. Dad, will You teach me how to live in Your presence?”
That one prayer could be spiritually revolutionary.
Truth—real truth—is always true. And because it’s always true, it’s always livable. But here’s the thing: even when truth is true, if we don’t exercise it, we won’t realize it.
So let’s live like the veil is torn. Let’s walk like we’re already welcome. Let’s talk to Him as though He’s already listening—because He is.
And if we do… the word “Unbelievable!” will probably keep showing up in our lives.
Not because it’s not true.
But because it’s so good… it almost feels like it couldn’t be.
And yet—it is.
One more thought before I close: we live in a fallen world, and in many ways, God is not King here—not yet. This world is fractured, confused, and wandering. But this broken world exists inside a perfect one—where God is and always has been Father and King.
Through Jesus, we’ve been given access—full, unhindered access—to that perfect world. It’s not distant. It’s present. It’s here.
And while we may still wander or feel the gravity of this world, we don’t belong to it. We can choose to walk freely within His promises, to live in that perfect reality even while we’re still here.
And the more time we spend there, the more we’ll want to stay home… rather than wander.
